Well, did he? I'm not sure. Napalm Death were pretty early too. Any with a PHd in The History Of Blastbeat here?
Stupid interview btw.

it's stupid, but I think the main attraction in the interview is Pete Sandoval who looks like endorsed by some Colombian cocaine baron:)

Yes, I do believe he is. I remember seeing them live in Dallas and before the show he was out on the street hanging out smoking a huge joint in full public view.
And I agree it would be hard to prove that he invented teh blast beat, I mean he was doing Morbid Angel and Terrorizer pretty early but that's a hard one to prove.

I know for a fact that he smokes weed all the time but I think that's it. I at least hope so. Haha, he sounds like some Scarface character in that interview :grim:

I caught Morbid Angel live last time that they were in Dallas and have fond memories of listening to their record, "Covenant", at one of those reunion type get togethers with family. That was a "chill" moment. Kudos must go out to Pete, the drummer, for being the self-proclaimed inventor of the blast beat phenomenon. What is the correct way of doing a blast beat? I would bet you that there is more than one school of thought on the subject. Regardless, I would like to see the instructional video to gain further grip on the concept.

Was that when they played with Nile in Deep Ellum? I think it was at the Galaxy Club. I am not sure though since i only saw that one show there.
