  1. I'm having a huge Cocteau Twins revival these days. I used to saviour albums like Head Over Heels and Treasure like 10-12 years ago, and now that I've rediscovered them I enjoy them even more. Also, totally diggin' Garlands and Victorialand, and right now I'm getting into Blue Bell Knoll which I never got into back then. Life is strange, not to mention sweet! Any other fans here? I'd sure like to get my hands on that ep box but as of now it's too costy even for a "bigshot "like me

Well, I can't exactly go from Whitehouse to Cocteau Twins to put it that way, and I have to be open to more, what should I say... "soft moods" to be able to listen to them, but especially now during summer I enjoy putting them on while barbequeing for example.

  3. I consider them the best band on the 4AD label. Blue Bell Knoll was always my favourite but I don't think I've heard anything I didn't like by them.

Hats off for giving them a mention for once instead of the dreadfully overrated Dead Can Dance.

Dead Can Dance used to be one of my faves too, but not a lot of their material has stayed in my memory. Love the Gerrard-songs on Spleen And Ideal though, probably their most poppy stuff ever.
Nowadays DCD sounds a bit too "arty" for me, it's not something I put on very often. The Twins though, have been accompanying me to and from work for a few weeks now :-D

    Ha!
    Yeah right...

I've only heard a few songs from Cocteau Twins, but I remember them being decent.

  6. Cocteau was one of my favorite bands when I was younger. Don't forget who's done the amazing female vocals on Massive Attack "Mezzanine" KVLT album as well:)

Man, when those drums kick in, in the title track I feel like jumping up and down with a huge smile on my face. It's just brilliant. And those guitars, I guess Cocteau Twins were an inspiration for Lycia.

  9. Garlands!! Love that cd.
I go through stages when I listen to them for a week.
I'd pretty much do anything to play bass for them.

Actually Mike VanPortfleet never really liked them that much, he likes the CD with Harold Budd "The Moon and the Melodies" project with Cocteau Twins. I think that was pretty much it.
But the time I worked with Lycia, Mike never played them.
Lycia's influence was mostly Wire, Gang of Four, Gary Newman, P. Furs, Big Black, Swans and Life Garden.

I can see the connection though.
Especially with 'the burning circle'. It's the ebow.
