Conversations About the Light - An Unfinished Poem for January Second
Conversations About the Light present another 3” CDR, this one however consists of just there, or his music would be more proper since it’s a one-man band. ‘Inhale April’ is a very strange ambient tune with a ominous humming drone sound in the background while the music in the forefront is more electric, noisy, experimental, and kind of sounds like someone scratching a record maybe. The last couple minutes of the song return to more of a menacing droning synth sound with more apocalyptic and noisy sounds being blasted into my right ear. The second song is just unadulterated noise to say the very least. For almost four minutes the listener is blasted with harsh noise that kind of sounds like a CD with a lot of scratches on it while trying to play. It’s extremely noisy, harsh, and angry, but unfortunately not the type of thing I really dig. The last song is a really gloomy ambient piece, which after a few minutes into the song it brings back some of the noisier elements found on the previous song. It’s not nearly as cruel sounding though nor will it scramble your eardrums like the previous song does.
‘An Unfinished Poem for January Second’ shows a different more noisy/experimental side to the band that I didn’t expect, but its still strangely interesting to me. If you enjoy Merzbow, Gruntsplatter, or Brighter Death Now there’s probably a good chance this band will appeal to you. It should be interesting to see what the full length from this band will be like.

Hum of the Druid/Conversations About the Light - A Split Release
Hum of the Druid & Conversations About the Light are two new bands trying to make a name for themselves in the dark ambient/noise/experimental genres. Together they have released a split 3” CDR featuring one track from each band plus a final track, which is collaboration between the two bands. Hum of the Druid’s music is a fairly straightforward form of noisy ambient/death industrial like music. Their track is about nine minutes of rumbling harsh noise and throbbing bass. There’s hardly any rhythm to the song, and while it is quite elusive it still has a nice atmospheric quality to it that I enjoy and I’d say it lives up to the songs title adequately. I’m really not too familiar with music of this nature, but probably the closest thing I could compare it to, from what I’ve heard of this genre would be bands like Merzbow or Gruntsplatter.
Conversations About the Light present a much more interesting and much easier on the ear type of song. ItÂ’s a very bleak dark ambient tune that starts out with mostly low-end synth work and towards the end becomes a bit more musical. ItÂ’s not exactly the most melodic dark ambient tune out there but its very bleak and atmospheric, which is definitely a winning combination as far as IÂ’m concerned.
Finally the last song is the two bands together, but tends to lean more towards sounding like Conversations About the Light. ItÂ’s quite a bit like that previous track, but with some vague noise pushed into the background of the song. Certainly an interesting piece, but it makes me wonder if Hum of the Druid just makes noise music or if they have some normal dark ambient songs. hmmmÂ….
Overall both bands have put together a rather decent three song CDR here, which lasts for just a little under twenty minutes. Unfortunately though this 3” CDR was limited to just 24 copies and has since sold out. Luckily though the Conversations About the Light full length album is coming out soon on Audio Savant records, so be sure to check it out once its released.

And here's another one from Aversionline:
Conversations About the Light "An Unfinished Poem for January Second" 3" CD
7/10 - [self-released]
Three tracks of experimental noise that's definitely a bit more varied than I had been anticipating based on what little I had heard from the project in the past. "Inhale April" consists of a dense low-end sort of ringing pulse with some thick yet caustic distortion breaking apart in the center. At one point things sort of falter quickly and then an ultra muddy and subtly melodic synth rumble comes forth and again brings back that rigid, crackling bite of distortion - the central transition is a bit awkward, but other than that it's a solid piece. "It's Because of You That I Cannot Watch the Stendahl Syndrome" surprises with an immediate and consistent assault of harsh noise layers, complete with your usual rumbling distortion, fiery midrange spurts, a bit of twisted feedback, and lots of density. Towards the end a musical sort of synth passages fades in for just a bit right before the track cuts to a quick end. "Exhale August" then contrasts that with a minimal hum of perfect melodic ambience and in/out fluttering textures. About halfway through the seven-minute piece softer distortion starts to fade into the background as a percussive resonance starts to rise up. Things move around more after that, with more active distortion and strange chirping electronic glitches shuffling across as volume increases across the board. Overall this is by far the most successful track herein - perfectly representing all of the project's atmospheres in one powerful and concentrated composition. The disc comes in a small, slim jewel case with an insert that has imagery and text pasted onto a square of metallic silver paper. It looks like a couch or something on the cover, but it's hard to say as the image is a little rough and pixilated. Nice work for the most part. The harsh piece is better than average despite being the weaker of the three, and "Inhale August" is structurally less cohesive than the awesome "Exhale August", but these are but minor setbacks that don't hold anything back.
Running time - 17:27, Tracks: 3
[Notable track: Exhale August]
