SHIFT - UNABLE TO ABIDE THE SILENCE OF THE WORLD
The first full-length release by this Swedish (UK-based) Noise unit from UNREST PRODUCTIONS. Opening with smothering, churning, rhythmic, Death Industrial soundscapes (not far removed from Control, Ten Horned Beast, Nadja or even Goatvargr),"Unable To Abide..." moves ever-threateningly into heavier Industrial sounds and continues into a deafening Power Electronics crescendo. 18 months in the making, recorded in two different countries and using three studios it is a slow, crushingly heavy and brooding album with deep subsonic layered sounds. Limited to 300 numbered hand-assembled copies and finished off with a very nice slipcase.
SHIFT completed a UK tour with GRUNT in late 2006 and have several 2007 live dates planned which will be announced soon.
so i played the new SHIFT cd at 4am this morning on a 3 day speed melt down. ...and part of it kind of creeped me out, it was like CLOCK DVA // BURIED DREAMS be put through a pitchshiffter and being played at 33-12. just sounds fuckin massive and ugly.

So there I was at Dean's place getting fucked up on Stella and green. Feeling slightly bored I decided to play with some of his pedals and send a radio and a mic through them. Most of the recordings inexplicably perished and this is what remains. SHIFT attempting harsh noise. A slightly new territory for me. Loads of nasty feedback and low end rumbles. The quality of the result can be judged by those who purchase.
The ROMANCE side is top notch and as rare as Welsh gold. It's a stunning track and, as we all know, new ROMANCE releases are few and far between. Those who know the power of ROMANCE would be foolish to miss this one.
Only 60 copies exist and I only posess 15 myself. It comes as a standard tape box inside a thick card slipcase.
