  1. Yeah, it had to come sooner or later, and 2006 is getting closer, so why not just get it over with...

    V:28 - SoulSaviour
    (I'm proud like hell!)

Brighter Death Now - Kamikaze Kabaret
(It's been a while since Obsessis and 1890, and this was totally
worth the wait. Industrial doesn't get better than this!)

    Jesu - Jesu
(Fucking excellent! Never really been a big fan of Godflesh, but
    this is a monumental release.)

Proiekt Hat / Brighter Death Now - Feel Bad
(Michael Jackson could never hope for a better tribute!
I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it...)

Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
(No surprises, but these englishmen sure know how to make
    groovy death metal)

Shining IV - The Eerie Cold
    (Great doom black metal)

PS: Might add some more as I'm still waiting for a few essential releases...

  3. Most of the releases on vendlus that came out this year blew me away. TMATMD, V28, Vesen, Diskord, Babyflesh

Babyflesh is probably my favorite album of the year hands down. This is not a sales pitch or anything, am I biased? yes, do i care no!

The best discovery has been wolves in the throne room. I just fell in love with this band this year. I am very proud to have them on Vendlus. For me its like signing Darkthrone or Neurosis. It's that monumental!

Last year the album that i listened to alot in belarus on buses and walking alone in the snow was david galas's demos. I got the final cd in the mail finally and its going to be the top of 2006 for many darkwave fanatics.

I guess I'm like the car salesman who drives the product he sales to work. I just love this years releases. I only wish i could of put out a few more that are coming out next year. I also listened to Saros alot, they are an amazing band!

Me and many people on this board looks forward to this release, and judging by the 3 songs I've personally heard from this forthcoming release, I wouldn't be suprised if it would end up on my fav of 2006 list.

Having that said, here is my fav of 2005:

    Depeche Mode-Playing the Angel
The first couple of listens were huge let downs, but I don't think I can remember an album that has grown so significantly on me like this one.

    Frustration - s/t
Fantastic post punk from France, if I didn't know any better this ep could very well have been released in 1982, their sound is that decieving.

Of the Wand & the Moon - Sonnenheim
Absolutely gorgeous. No suprises on it, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

Death In June - Abandon Tracks
Most of it I have from before, except for the remixes/unreleased stuff of course. I was disappointed though that some of the tracks that were previously announced that weren't going to be featured anywhere else than on their designated releases, were infact put on here. Knowing that Douglas P. dropped a second disc's worth of material in addition didn't make it better. An essential release for me nontheless.

Brighter Death Now - Kamikaze Kabaret
Despite some weak tracks (Testing in particular - thumb on jack plug, -come on, I did that when I was 17!) still kicks ass, favourite for me must be Crimescene Nostalgia

Control - The Means to an End
What can I say? Just devastating.

Ordo Rosarious Equilibrio + Spiritual Front - Satyriasis
This release gave me new hope in ORE, their past couple of releases have not impressed me much at all. Spiritual Front has also improved greatly from the eariler stuff I've heard from them. A very cool release.

    Residents - Not Available (re-release)
    Probably my favourite Residents album.

Sol Invictus - The Devil's Steed
I *think* it came out this year, but I can't remember, hehe. Anyway, another back to form release, and it reminds me of my favourite time in their history, early 90's.

    Predominance - Dark Stars Unfolding
Good dark ambient. They also manages to blend this with more dark wave type stuff, but that's not so evident on this release.

    Ulver - Blood Inside
This one's been commented enough around these parts I think.

I had more releases lined up, but typing all this was excrutiating enough in itself.

  6. I'm going to publish an article on this very subject on Lunar Hypnosis soon enough, but off the top of my head; Sin Origin, Moonsorrow, Of the Wand & the Moon, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, and Sol Invictus were the most stunning artists this year. Actually I just published reviews for the new Of the Wand & Ordo albums if any one cares to read them.
