Ahoy friends! I recently published an article on my zine called 'May the Infinity Haunt meÂ… In Darkness (The Essential Black Metal Albums),' and thought perhaps some of the black metal fans here would enjoy reading it. That is all, but any comments would be cool. Thanks.

I guess there will always be debate on what albums belong to that list. There are a couple ones I would've added and a couple ones I would've left out. Though that meridian one is a good album I don't consider it as essential since it sounds very much like a mix of older releases to me.

weakling, kvist, ved buens ende (although i can see arguments against it being a pure black metal album)

Damn your right about Kvist! How the heck did I forget them? Weakling is cool also, but not really one of my favorites. I never really liked Ved Buens Ende though. Now that I think about it I also forgot Sear Bliss. Hmm maybe I'll make some additions to that article yet.
As for Masters Hammer, Blasphemy, Necromantia, well i never liked them too much. Sorry, heh.

I would've at least added something by Mayhem & Immortal (even though I don't like them), then maybe Dissection or Marduk cause they spawned the whole Swedish melodic black genre. First Arcturus album. First Cradle album. Instead of that Meridian I would've gone for Thorns or Dodheimsgard (666 international).

I quickly checked your article and atleast the first five come in my top albums list,
abigor i listened but it aint that good imo(also little trivia from that album, they ripped one track i dont remember the name lyrics from word to word from sentenced north from here album and that pretty hilarious..)
also I wasnt scared at all from emperors first one and I also like wrath of the tyrant quite much..
and those rest after the top five seem boring to me, stormblåst also not special to me..
but yeap agree totally on top5
maybe satyricons second album was much better tough.. but bands are correct anyway.. hehee
